Bullets in PowerPoint

I sent my PowerPoint presentation to a friend for comments and when it was
returned the bullets had changed to strange characters. I can't find a way
to change back to default bullets. Even if I start a new presentation the
bullets remain things like four leaf clovers, etc. Can someone tell me how
to get back the default bullets. Reset is greyed out. Thank you.

Not sure, but it could be that the font you originally used for bullets is no
longer installed or has gotten corrupted.

Try this:

Open the presentation
Choose Format, Replace Fonts
Look for any font in the UPPER listbox that has a ? next to it
If that's the same font as was used for the bullets, that explains things ...
it's not installed on your PC

Thank you for responding and I did what you suggested - the only font with a
? beside it was Wingdings. I took a chance and replaced it with Arial
(probably wrong thing to do) and it changed nothing, the bullets are still
all strange. Do you have any other suggestions?

Yup. I think we've found the problem. Wingdings is a special symbol font that
contains only bullet-type symbol characters. Arial doesn't have many of those so
you'll still get odd characters when you substitute.

Wingdings should have been installed with Windows or, depending on your version of
Office, might have come with it as well. Later versions of Office would have
included WingDings 2 and WingDings 3 (but not WingDings straight, no chaser,
evidently)

If you have one of the other Wingdings versions, try substituting it instead, or
use Symbol.

Or if you have another PC handy, see if Wingdings.ttf is there and install a copy
