I am using Vista Home Premium and would like to switch to the built-in
administrator account. Can someone advise me the procedure to do so.

Thanks,

If you right click 'Computer' and select 'Manage' and then when that opens
select 'Local Users and Groups' then 'Users' you will see the accounts on
the machine. Right click 'Administrator' and select 'Properties' and uncheck
the 'Account is disabled' checkbox.

Why do you need to switch on the admin account? Just wondering????

Neil,

Thanks for your reply. As per your advice, I right click 'Computer' and
select 'Manage' and then when that opens. There was no Local Users and
Groups inside the whole dialog box. Is it applied to Vista Home Premium as
well?

As per the advice from the software publisher, I have to use adminstrator
account to install their software even my account has administrator right.

Thanks,

Scott

You could run the installer as Admin by right clicking it and selecting 'Run
as administrator'. That might work

or another way to enable to Administrator account is to open a command
prompt with admin rights and type:

net user administrator /active:yes

If their software is that poorly coded that it looks for the Administrator
user you really don't want it on your computer. It will undoubtedly cause
other problems in Vista once it is installed.

Try right clicking on the installer program, click on Properties, click on
the Compatibility tab, tick "Run this program in compatiblity mode", make
sure "Windows XP (Service Pack 2) is selected, tick "Run this program as an
administrator", click on Apply then OK. Try running the installation again.

Kerry,

Thanks for your comments and suggestion.

I got the similar feeling but most of pcs on sell are pre-installed that
software. The program is a new version for Vista and seems to have more
enhancement to become perfect.
