building blocks don't work automatically

In school when we defined a building block/quick part, say I built a building
block and named it "jcs", when I typed in "jcs," Juniper Culinary School
appeared (bolded and in green) -- kind of like auto correct, but I don't want
to use auto correct, because I want to be able to save my formatting too. In
my home version it makes me go to the insert tab, then click the quick parts
icon, and then select my building block. Does anyone know how to make mine
work like it does at my school? My instructor doesn't know.

On the school machine, if you type in the name of the entry ("jcs") and a
space or punctuation and it immediately changes to the expanded and
formatted text, then what you have _is_ an AutoCorrect entry. (Note that
AutoCorrect entries _can_ include formatting, although you have to select
the Formatted Text option button in the AutoCorrect Options dialog at the
time you create the entry.)

Quick Parts never expand automatically. If the entry is a Quick Part, you
can type its name in the document and press F3 to expand it. This behavior
of "don't expand unless I tell you to" is the major difference between
AutoCorrect and Quick Parts.
