Building a hyperlink in a protected document

I built drop down boxes in a word document and protected it so the formating
couldn't be changed. I want to build a hyperlink in the document as well but
once the document is locked I'm unable to insert a hyperlink. Is there a way
around this?

Seems to me that you would insert your hyperlinks *before* you
protect document. If you mean that you can't click on a
hyperlink in a protected section, then see
