Where can I find the build number of the Vista I am running?

Look at your desktop, lower right corner.

Here are some ways. Right click on Computer then on Properties or click on
run and type in winver hit enter. Winver is the better choice. Run is turned
off by default. Right click on Start, click on properties then Start
Menu/Customize scroll down untill you see run and click on it. You can also
go to Windows and pick any number of files like Explorer.exe, shell32 etc.
right click then click on properties and look at version.

I guess I made it harder than it needs to be. It all depends on how much
information about the build you want.

Actually, just type winver in the Start Search box on Start.
