Bugs in Advanced Tools

Don't delete "Unknown Shell Execute Hook" (URL Exec Hook)
or you won't be able to launch webpages from links in Help
files or emails.

If you choose to delete it will remove a registry entry
and cause problems. Windows/System32/Shell32.dll

Shell32.dll is a Windows System File so it makes no sense
that the software flags it as an unknown.

Also I'm unable to change the deefault search page or any
others for that matter.

I agree with your observations about the specific shell execute hook. I've
never dared to delete it. I don't know why this shows a system file as
unknown.

I'm not sure why you are having trouble with the search page or other IE
settings url's--that part of the product has worked for me, I believe.

Hi

I complained about this a few days ago but got no response.

Some default or search pages wont change and I suspect they are IE defaults
and not user defaults.

MAS says it has changed them but it hasn't.

I've even tried direct intervention on the registry keys that MAS signalled
but certain default settings seem to resist.

The settings that Microsoft Antispyware will try to revert to--I believe
with your assent!--are set either via a wizard that is presented to the user
early in the installed life of the program--I haven't figured out what the
timing is--but I've seen it on every install, I believe--or, the defaults of
the OS as installed. These vary a little depending on whether it is
Microsoft retail, or OEM, but they aren't imposed by Microsoft Antispyware.

You can change them at Tools, Advanced tools, browser hijack restore
settings.

I'm concerned about your statement that changing url's directly in the
registry didn't work. Was there a problem making the change, or did it
simply seem ineffective?
