today in c:\users\<myName>\ I found 2 files (size: 0 bytes) with the name of
2 commands I typed yesterday in a cmd shell (standard user).
Yesterday I opened a cmd shell and typed this command:
tracert
I also copied the output text with the mouse and paste it (CTR+V) into live
messenger 7.5 chat, then I typed this command:
exit
in order to close the cmd shell.

But, today I found these files in c\users\<myName>:
exit (0 byte)
tracert (0 byte)

I cannot reproduce this problem.

I tried on 2 different machines - one 32 bit Vista Home Premium, the other
64 bit Vista Ultimate. The main difference from your scenario is that I have
Windows Live Messenger 8.5 installed, instead of 7.5

Do I need to wait till the following day for the files to appear? Or should
they appear instantly?

Does it only happen with the tracert command? Or with any command at the
command prompt?

Are you able to reproduce the problem on more than one machine? If so, what
are the steps to repro? Because, it seems a plain installation of Vista does
not expereince the problem ...

Bug reports are good; but the number of alleged bugs far exceeds the number
of confirmed bugs. If you want people to take notice of your bug report, you
need to include all the info necessary for them to reproduce the problem. If
a problem happens only your machine but not on other users' machines, then
.... that may just indicate something unusual about your machine; it doesn't
confirm it's a bug.
