My laptop keeps BSODing even after reinstallation of the OS on a brand
new hard drive. Memory dump gives me the report below. The system is
updated and free of viruses. Any ideas?

If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: b1f13000, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000d, IRQL
Arg3: 00000000, bitfield :
bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation
(only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: 806f4702, address which referenced memory

My laptop keeps BSODing even after reinstallation of the OS on a brand
new hard drive. Memory dump gives me the report below. The system is
updated and free of viruses. Any ideas?

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid)

interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.

bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation

Uninstall AVG. If they provide an additional removal tool, use it. Do the
Stop Errors cease? If yes, don't install AVG again. Avast and Avira both
make good free versions.

I just noticed I pasted the wrong log as this is the only one of 9
that points to avg. All the others look like this:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)

(snippage)

1. Did you use a retail copy of XP or the laptop mftr.'s recovery discs to
do your reinstallation of Windows?

a. If the former, did you remember to install the drivers for all your
hardware, as well as any laptop-specific software? If not, this is your next
step. Get the drivers from the laptop mftr.'s website for your specific model
machine.

b. If the latter, try uninstalling AVG as previously suggested. If this
doesn't help you have hardware failure. Since you have replaced the hard
drive, that component is probably not the cause. If the computer is under
warranty, contact the OEM's tech support for repair/replacement.

If you wish to try and troubleshoot this yourself:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot

I would start with the RAM.

It was a retail version indeed but I installed all the drivers from
manufacturers website. Well, except for the chipset and cardbus
drivers which Windows picked up automatically. I'll do that now and
remove AVG and see what happens.

Just found one more thing causing a BSOD. Intel WiFi card driver. Even
though it was downloaded from laptop manufacturer's website. Now I
downloaded one from Intel. Lets see how that works.
