BRSVC01A.EXE

When I shutdown XP I get an error that reports it if from the file
BRSVC01A.EXE

I have googled for this and it is a left over file from my Brother
printer drivers. The file is in C:\WINDOWS\system32. I long ago
uninstalled the Brother printer.

When I run msconfig and look at the loaded list I see no BRSVC01A.EXE

I renamed the file. I was surprised I got no sharing error.

Shouldn't the file be on the msconfig startup list? How is this file
being loaded without being on the startup list?

You mention Sharing which indicates it was networked, was it?

If it was uninstalled you could search the registry for Brother or brsvco1a
and delete any found after first exporting the key/hive they are found in.

It could be in the startup folder in Start, Programs. Or some other
program or bat file coud be starting it.
