Browser Pop-ups

My IE 6.0 keeps pulling up pop-up ads. I've downloaded
Pop-up Blocker by Panicware, and it used to work on what
I would call "traditional" pop-ups, but it is not working
on this new set which is displayed as an actual webpage,
complete with toolbars and all.

I've also downladed Ad-Aware by Lavasoft, and keeps
showing 2 files that cannot be deleted...they
are "inetadpt.dll" and "fewpp.ddll". How can I stop
these pup-ups and remove these 2 data mining files?

According to this help site, one can remove inetadpt.dll
http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/targetsoft.inetadpt/index.phtml

more here:

The second file - fewpp.ddll (or did you mean fewpp.dll? Neither shows up as
any file in google) Nor does fewp.dll. You'd better check that again and get
back to this thread. ;-)

If they exist you can delete them by a DOS command if they cannot be deleted
because they are "in use". BTW, most stuff can be prevented if you don't
permit Scripting, ActiveX, or Java - in that order. At least have them set
to prompt if you don't want to disable them. Yes, it is annoying to click
all those "do you wanna...?" boxes, but it sure beats a case of getting some
bugs, and pop-up windows which many "whitebread - money-mad" sites foist on
you (with greater frequency than unsavory sites of "ill-repute") any day of
the week. ;-)

The file is "fewpp.dll". I've also tried going to Spware
Info, and downloaded CWShredder, but it didn't help.

Well, I don't doubt you since you've checked and corrected it, but Google
still comes up empty handed on a search for fewpp.dll. Hmmmm.

So, a Start> Find files and folders> fewpp.dll shows a fewpp.dll in which
directory? Can you move it out of that directory while in Windows, or is
that denied?

It is located in:
c:\windows\system32\fewpp.dll

Each time I attempt to delete any of these items, I get
an error message stating "Cannot delete xxxxx: Access is
denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-
protected and that the file is not currently in use."

I now have another file that I can't delete...
c:\windows\system32\pjmas.dll

Have you tried renaming them and then moving or deleting? Probably won't
work, but is worth a try.

If you cannot get rid of them by your customary anti-spyware program, you're
going to have to do that in pure DOS, if it cannot be renamed and then moved
or deleted. You never stated what your OS is so, you're going to have to
start at the beginning.

Read this here: (for XP but will work for other systems, to a degree)

DOS commands

To get into Dos in case you don't know how, will depend on your OS. With
Win98 a simple way is to restart your PC, and select restart in Ms-Dos mode.
With WinXP I don't know since I don't run that.

Also, pjmas.dll also shows nothing in my system and does not appear in
Google either.

Another thing to bear in mind is that any DOS DEL command can be *very
dangerous* if you are not *precisely* sure of what to do. Proceed with
extreme caution, do not rush, and think things through with total
thoroughness, if DOS is the only solution.
