I am reposting this as it was under the wrong heading. I
want my search engine to remain as IE. It keeps flipping
to "Startium" even though I have gone into "Start"
+ "Control Panel" + "Internet Options" + "Reset Web
Settings" to the default IE Home page and Browser. I am
operating Windows Home XP.
Anybody????

Hi,

It sounds like your computer has been infected with AdWare. These programs
can hijack your browsers, causing it to randomly direct to for-profit search
pages, or other advertising sites.

It's encouraged that you run an anti-spyware program, such as AdAware (link
below). This program will attempt to remove all spyware programs, including
those that could be responsible for the symptoms you are describing. Download
AdAware here:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Ensure that you update the program after you install it. This shall offer
maximum protection against the newest threats.

You should also consider CWShredder. Think of it like a companion to AdAware
that gets the varients that AdAware may miss. Download CWShredder from:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

You may also wish to read the following article, as it explains the
ins-and-outs of what you may be dealing with:

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

If you are not comfortable configuring your computer, you I would recommend the
use of AdAware as this program has a lesser chance of causing any problems when
running it, and has a friendlier interface. Be sure to upload the latest
reference file after installing it.

Regards,

Altrus
