broken database

Greetings,

Whenever either myself or another user attempts to open a database on our
shared server, they will sometimes be told that the database needs to be
repaired. I run compact and repair which fixes the issue, but this happens up
to 3 times in one day. Is there a reason this is happening so often and is
there a way to fix it? We are using Access 2003, on Windows XP.

back-up, make another back-up and then first try importing everything into a

I have a white paper in a Word document named Fix Corrupt Access Database
towards the bottom this page:

One thing comes to mind: Is the database split and do you have a Front End
on each user's PC or is it just one database file out on the server? The best
answer is split.

As far as what's causing it, I'm betting that there is something wrong with
your network like a bad cable, network card, switch, router, etc.

Thank you for your quick response. Indeed we keep backups as standard so I
will give all these things a try.
