Brightness and darkness

I've been using my Inspiron 5100 lap top for some time now. I've notice
recently that it is getting darker and harder to see. it looks dim. Can you
help? I went to the brightness screen and it just made it appear whiter,
cloudy like. It still did not take this darkness away.
 
Hi it happened to my NEC and it was something to do with a part which
had to be replaced. I had to take it in for repairs.
