I ran Norton Anti-Virus 2004 and Ad-aware 6.0 (both
updated) on my PC and both identified an adware file on
my PC, C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\bridge.dll.
Symantec classifies this files as "Adware: WinFavorites"
and Ad-aware also calls it WinFavorites.
Since bridge.dll messed with some Registry keys, I used
Ad-aware 6.0 to delete it. When I rebooted, however, I
encounted this pop-up window upon boot-up:
RUNDLL
Error loading C:\Windows\Downloaded Program
Files\bridge.dll
The specified module could not be found.
(Note: "RUNDLL" is in the blue banner of the pop-up
window, the remainder of the text in the white portion of
the window).
When I unquarenteened bridge.dll in Ad-aware, the pop-up
window goes away. When I quarenteen the bridge.dll
related entries, the pop-up window reappears upon boot-up
(I tried it several times).
Does anyone have familiarity with this adware file? How
do I delete it, yet not have the annoying pop-up window
constantly displaying upon boot-up?
I appreciate your assistance.
Thanks & regards,
