Breaking links on Excell 2000

I have a number of workbooks driven by links with a
central workbook. Some of these workbooks are monthly
monitoring statements that once the month end has been
reached I do not want to be updated again, although the
central workbook may alter. Other people use the
information and I am worried that when opening the
spreadsheet they click the option to update, thus getting
the latest information not as it was at the period end.

How can I break the link without losing the values?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Copy all the cells and pastespecial as values.
