Hi,
my computer stops for 3 min when I first start it. It shows only the intel
p4 logo, and then starts my windows xp home normally after that.
Can anybody tell me why I'm getting this long pause.
I think it has something to do with the bootup process
Please HELP
Thanks

This is likely a BIOS setting, not anything to do with Windows at all. If your computer is under warrantee, your best bet is to contact the manufactures support.

Some times the long pause on Intel boards is due to some failing
hardware such as a bad cd-rom drive or hard drive in the early stages
of failure. When the computer turns on it queries all devices and if
one is acting up this can slow the process. However the problem may
also be fixable with a bios upgrade. These can be downloaded from
intel.com.

my suggestions:
1. Set the BIOS defaults, then power up to see if the pause still
exists. If so go to the next step
2. Turn off the computer and unplug the cd-rom drive. Then power up to
see if the pause still exists. If so go to the next step
3. Download an updated BIOS from intel, then power up to see if the
pause still exists. If so go to the next step
4. Backup your data and then run the manufacturers hard drive test
against your hard drive. (e.g. hitachi fitness test

If the drive fails you'll want to replace it immediately.

turn off the logo option
inside the bios....

Some of these delays are caused because your system is searching for a
network connection during bootup. This thread might help:
