Booting up / Password

I had XP installed a few months ago and have had no problems with it - UNTIL
NOW!

My "computer guy" set it up so that when I turned on the computer, Win would
"open" straight to my desktop - no user ID or password required.

Yesterday I installed a new printer and now Win "makes" me click on my user
button to start running!

This sucks!

How can I fix this so Win will go straight to my desktop again? I'm the only
person who uses my computer so I don't need all this "user ID" and password
stuff!

System Restore?

Well, that worked! Except I lost my new printer in the process (because my
computer went "back in time!")! I'll try and reinstall the printer and hope I
don't mess up anything else!

I forgot...even if my monitor goes into screen-saver mode or "sleep" it asks
for me to click on my id again! Sheesh!

Click on Start and run: type in control userpasswords2
Uncheck the box User must enter a username and password.

As to the issue of the screen saver or sleep mode, open Control Panel, open
Display, go to the Screen Saver tab, remove the check from "On Resume, use
Welcome Screen," click apply and ok.

I did as you suggested (can't imagine WHY installing a printer would change
screensaver settings????). I had also emailed HP and they said that
installing the printer automatically installs another "user" to your system
(a .net user/password). HP told me to delete that user...I shut down my
computer last night and this morning it got to the "welcome" screen and
stayed there for about an hour! But it did come on...I'm going to call my
computer-guy and have him "tweak" things!
