i tried to increase the amount of ram i had with my pc however the sticks i
had wouldnt fit so i put the old ones back in and i booted up my pc and it
started to beep so i rechecked the ram in the machine and when i rebooted it
seemed to work fine untill it tried 2 go loading windows when u boot up a pc
it came up with a blank screen saying "strike f1 to attempt reboot or strike
f2 to enter setup utilty" so i enterd my old xp disk with service pack 1a and
tried to do a system repair using that disk however this failed i turned off
the pc however later in the day i came back with the disk still in the drive
and it seemed to load up fine however when my brother went to use the pc
after i removed the disk it kept doing strike f1 to attempt reboot or strike
f2 to enter setup utilty" when i inserted the disk it went back to normal

i was wondering if any one could shed any light on this problem as it cant
keep going on like this

"strike f1 to attempt reboot or strike f2 to enter setup utility"

This is a bios message and indicates hardware malfunction or incorrect cmos
setup problems. Check the mobo manual for the meaning of the beep codes.

thanks for the advice mate i know what the beeps were about the ram wasnt
inserted properly it just boots up to "strike f1 to attempt reboot or strike
f2 to enter setup utility" unless i have a windows disk in the cd drive its
not 2 much of a problem however its just annoying

and you two other guys u eva heard this expression "if you have nothing
useful to say dont say a thing"

Sounds like incorrect cmos setup settings. Try resetting defaults or check
the mobo manual.

Should be a cmos option to do so or sometimes via a jumper placement. Check
the mobo manual for instructions.
