.
usually there is a jumper which you can reset to reset
bios.contact the manufacturer to walk you into bios to
reset defaults or to reset the jumper if necessary.

Clear the CMOS RAM which stores the BIOS values (i.e. change(s) you
made). There may be some points to short on the motherboard, or a jumper
to set, or you may need to remove the battery, and disconnect the mains
lead. Your motherboard manual will tell you how.

That should get you back to where you can enter the BIOS and input the
right values (assuming you know them). Some motherboards accept 'insert'
(instead of delete) key at boot time to enter the BIOS with safe
default, but yours may not.

If you're not comfortable doing this, take it back where you got it from
(or the nearest computer shop) and get them to do it. You should not
need to make BIOS changes to 'get video set up' .. if you were messing
with AGP speeds, Fastwrite, AGP frame sizes, and suchlike .. don't
bother, they don't make any detectable difference in the real world.

Thank you for your detailed reply.

My problem is/was that I couldn't install the video driver and out of
despaeration I went into the Bios. I bought an Intel MB CFI -S96 plus
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 2.4 CGHz system Bus 800 MHz 512 KB L2 Cache. The
MB has a Video Intel 845GE GMCH 2D/3D graphics chipset. The Monitor I
bought is a HP 17" Flat Panel Display Model Pavilion F 1703.

The problem I had when scrolling up or down was a wavy picture. No drivers
where installed.
The book that came with MB says I can reset the CMOS Ram , but I hope that
it doesn't wipe out all settings.

Clearing the CMOS RAM will reset all the BIOS values to 'default' state,
however that should at least work. When you can get into the BIOS, you
can then put back anything that needs altering.

You will need a 'driver' (really just a .inf file) for the monitor,
which you install as well as (and usually after) the drivers for the
video (in your case the video drivers should have come with the
motherboard, since the graphics is integrated into the motherboard ..
horrid idea, yuk, but it's probably Ok for what you need).
