Each time I boot my PC (running MS WINXP Professional) i
receive a notice tat the file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
\AUTOEXEC.NT is "invalid for running MSDOS and Windows
based programs." and then I am given the choice to close
or ignore.. I choose close and the system continues to
boot and appears to run alright, but the notice is
consistent and annoying and I fear it may be symptomatic
of a larger issue I need to repair.
I have just removed a ton of ad ware (detected by Norton
Internet Security/Antivirus), but that has not resolved
the issue... important to note, perhaps, is that the
notification began appearing on the same day when the
tons ad ware were loaded onto my system.
Can anyone explain to me what this notice means and what
i can do to stop it from appearing? Your assistance would
be appreciated.
please email me at (e-mail address removed) with "MS
newsgroup question" in the subject line.
THANKS!
