I have a hp pavilion with windows xp and I keep getting a master boot record error on boot up , can someone please help . e-mail is (e-mail address removed)

You should have either a rescue CD or a properly licenced
Windows CD. Boot from it and choose the rescue option.
If you have command-line access, fdisk /mbr (or similar)
should restore the MBR (Master Boot Record) on your hard
drive. When you boot the computer, the MBR gets processed
first, and it points the way to Windows or other OSes.
