boot time taking longer than 20 mins

computers here are linked to a domain. The computer in question has been
working for months and stopped working today. A few select critial patches
were installed last night. When the computer boots up it goes to preparing
network connections (after 2-3 mins) and keeps loading but doing nothing, the
hard drive doesnt do anything either. I tried booting in safe mode and
logging in as the local administrator but it says that is cannot find the
domain. This is safe mode without network connections so it shouldnt even
try to access the domain. Also it took about 5 mins to get to the login
screen for safe mode. Any sugestions how to fix this?
