Hi ... I have xp pro full retail version with SP2
install , I have notice whenever i boot up my computer i
get a white bar scan that goes pretty quick , its almost
like when you turn your computer off by pressing the
power buttom and when you go to boot up your computer it
does a scan of the drive , its similar to that ...Why
does it do this ever start up and is there something
wrong when it does ??? I shut down my computer the way it
suppose to get shut down .... Also i notice it take some
time to shut down is there a patch for making the
computer shut down quicker ??? My friends computer shut
down a lot faster then mine and i was wondering why ???
Thanks

The white bar on start up is not uncommon. I don't get it but others
have posted they do. It's not really a problem. For shutdown issues
one thing to do is install the Microsoft User Profile Hive Cleanup
Service (UPHClean. The below knowledge base article describes the issue
and has a link for downloading Uphclean:

Another option is to use this excellent shutdown troubleshooter:

It sometimes happens, sometimes skips by so quickly that you miss it.
It is essentially the same one as you get in Setup there described as
'Hit F6 to install special drivers' - it is where you can hit function
keys to modify the way startup happens. Don't be bothered
