My computer seems to freeze up after installing SP2.

It hangs for about 2 minutes, then the hard disk makes a lot of noise and
then it becomes useable. Is there a workaround or a bootlog analyser around
to see what's holding things up?

Thanks.

Did you try Safe Mode?

Good Luck!

You also might want to check to see if there are any updated bios' available
for your motherboard, and see if there is a reference to SP2 issues in the
description.

The bios update was dated Sept 2002, makes me wonder if its an update. I
will try it anyway, thks.

Nope, bios update didn't work.

Tried clean boot, nothing holding it up. Now the windows logo key doesn't
work.

I'm thinking of reinstalling everything but that's no guarantee either.

Would it be better just to uninstall SP2?

What happens when you boot into safe mode?

In safe mode, there is no delay. Probably because nothing was loaded.
Problem is trying to pinpoint the cause of the delay.

I read in another thread that I actually have to disable everything,
disconnect from internet, clean up the system, check and install new patches
(if any) for all my applications and a whole lot more before I install SP2.
That's something I didn't do.

It also says to uninstall SP2, do all the clean up, etc. and reload SP2.

Well then clean boot troubleshooting should work to pinpoint the delay.
It's essentially the same thing. No need to do a reinstallation. Did
you disable all services too? Try the principle of 1/2. Disable half
of everything. Then the other half. Once you identify which half it's
in halve that, etc.
