Formatted our drive, now when we reboot we get the following countdown
screen:

Please select operating system to start.

How do we get it to bypass this and directly to the OS?

Hi JT,

Is there more than one entry to select from? If so, then WinXP will pause at
that screen every time. To stop this behavior, start/run msconfig, go to the
boot.ini tab and click the button to "check all boot paths". You should be
offered an option to remove invalid entries.

You can alos manually edit boot.ini by clicking start/run and entering
"C:\boot.ini" and clicking "ok" (assuming "C" is your boot drive), remove
invalid entries from the [operating systems] section and change the timeout=
line to 3. Click file/save and close.
