Boot Manager uninstalled?

Ok so I attempted to install vista over windows xp pro, and it didn't install
properly (I had installed windows xp pro as a second os on my comp, will
preserving the original os of XP Home edition which came with the computer.)
When I rolled the software back the program restarted and the boot manager
didn't exist, the comp said "Bootmgr not present press any button to reboot."
I then reinstalled vista directly. Before I reinstalled vista I attempted to
reinstall xp pro but it refused to boot from cd. Why did it do this?

I had to use VistaBootPRO 2.1 to get rid of the vista boot manager and reset
xp as default.

VistaBootPro, EasyBCD and the XP Recovery Console are the best ways to
restore the XP MBR
