Can someone take a look at my boot.ini file. I have some things in there that
I don't think were there last week. Might be causing me to have a 5min. delay
in starting my computer.
Thanks in Advance. Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Did you by any chance install Back up form Symantec, if so try to login and
disable this programs from starting up or uninstall it completely and Edit
your Boot.ini to the default as before.
First Backup your Boot.ini, to access the Boot.ini Right click My Computer
Icon on the Desktop and select Properties and click on Advanced Tab there
click on Start up and Recovery Button then click on Edit to Edit the Boot.ini
after *back up*.
Your Boot.ini file should look like this;

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP
Media Center Edition" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

HTH.
Please let us know your progress.

Hi Nass, thanks for taking the time to help me out.
I have Norton Internet Security 2006 installed. Tuneup Utilities 2006 also.
I believe that is what the "TU" stands for, but am not sure. Anyway, I wanted
to delete TUTag=3DGZ2O /Kernel=TUKernel.exe but was not sure if I should. The
computer starts up, goes all the way to the desktop background and then I
have to wait for at least two to three minutes before explorer "kicks" in and
everything is up and running. Kinda weird. lol I have had no luck finding any
support from Tuneup website and no help anywhere else about this.

Should I just go ahead and edit my boot.ini the way you have shown here and
be done with it?

Melissa

Hi Melissa,
CCap.exe is runing processor for Norton, but you can disable it from the
Start up Option.
If you have a Data try to Back Up your data and Edit the Boot.ini to its
default as Pre-mentioned.
Your Boot.ini file should look like this;

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP
Media Center Edition" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

HTH.
Please let us know your progress.

Hello, good afternoon. I edited my boot.ini file to what is shown in your
post. The computer started the same way, normal all the way until the
background then it hangs and takes about two minutes to "kick" in. Then
everything starts up all at once and it would seem normal. I just find it
strange, never did this before and I just bought this comptuer less thank six
months ago. Updates, Norton, no spyware. I understand some would say well
don't worry about it...lol It's just very annoying and I know it should not
be doing this.

Anyway, thanks for the help Nass and Pedro.

Hello, good afternoon. I edited my boot.ini file to what is shown in your

background then it hangs and takes about two minutes to "kick" in. Then

Hi Melissa,
CCap.exe is runing processor for Norton, but you can disable it from the
Start up Option.
If you have a Data try to Back Up your data and Edit the Boot.ini to its
default as Pre-mentioned.
Your Boot.ini file should look like this;

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP
Media Center Edition" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

HTH.
Please let us know your progress.

Try to uninstall Norton and reinstall it without runing the Tuneup software.
and see if the performance will pick up and improve.
HTH.
Please let us know.
