Boot from CD

I'm trying to set my computer to boot from CD, so I can reinstall Win XP.
I start my computer, and click Del at start up which takes me to "AwareBIOS
Setup Utility."
I follow proceddure, and choose my D drive (CD drive) as the boot drive. I
then restart my computer looking for the message "Press any key to boot from
CD". This message never appears.
I go back to the AwareBIOS Setup Utility", and the boot drive has reverted
back to the HD.
I have tried ths several times with the same result.
I am running Win XP Home.
Any suggestions?

After making the change in the bios, SAVE and exit.

Did you save the changes by pressing F10 key? When you have made
changes to bios, you need to save the changes and the pompt you get is
in double dutch so think hard what you are doing. You might be not
saving the changes.

If this fails then there is an option to install from 6 floppy drives
but try the CD first.

How old is your PC? Can you post the spec so that we can decide whether
it is capable of booting from the CD. You might need to upgrade your
bios then.

It is listed as the "First" boot device in the order displayed?

It has to be listed prior to floppy or HDD.
