hi guys,

I've been trying to boot my laptop form an external USB CD-Rom because
my original CD-Rom seems to have a proplem. I've a sony laptop with a
PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 and a Benq mini Cd-Rom.... I'm running a
Windows XP-home SP2

P.S. I'm kinda slow, so full explenation is prefered

thankx

you need an option in the BIOS, you'll have to look in your BIOS ,
check boot sequence, maybe it lists USB there. I don't know, i'm not
usually lucky enough to get comps with a BIOS that lets me do that!

either a boot sequnce optino or something equivalent like this ,
letting you choose primary, secondary, e.t.c. boot device (not to do
with master or slave or primary or secondary ide).

well the thing is i've a sony laptop.... i tried to see the booting
sequence it does not allow for an external usb drive. it has only
network boot, optical boot, floppy"which i don't have on this laptop,
and from the hard disk...

so any ideas?

thanks

Since the computer does not support it you are left with fixing the
internal one which it does support booting from.

well "duuuuuh", then you should call your laptop manufacturer and get
them to replace the motherboard with one that lets you boot from USB.
