Is there a search I can perform to find the BOOT.INI file?

The boot.ini is a hidden system file at the root of your %systemroot%
volume. In order to find it doing a search, you would need to remove the
check from Hide Protected Operating System files and also check Show Hidden
Files and Folders in the Folder Options.
