does anyone know how I can do a Boolean search in XP's
search companion. I want to search for files containing
two separate words - i.e. not in a complete phrase

You need to start the index server control program and read the help in there that will give you the syntax to use.

Type ciadv.msc in Start Run then Help on the menu. Have fun as it's only a language an idiot would design.

Many thanks - I didn't have the indexing service switched
on, so this may well be the problem.
