My bookmarks (in the Mozilla Firefox browser) do not go below "per..." as in
"periodicals". (The quotation marks are not parts of the words.) Also Manage
Bookmarks do not go below "per...".

How would I get all of my bookmarks (the one below "per...")?

Thank you,

Barry Karas

P.S. I have Windows XP Pro with SP2.

As poster Gordon suggested, this is not an appropriate newsgroup for
questions about that program which is not supplied with XP.

However, if I understand your question correctly, at the bottom of the
list of bookmarks do you have an arrow pointing down (an arrow like in a
drop-down list)? If you have that arrow, what happens when you hover your
mouse cursor over it?

According to the technical support people in Adelphia/Comcast Customer
Service, that ISP does not offer newsgroups. Don't ask me how I can access
this newsgroup if my ISP does not offer newsgroups. Therefore, I cannot
access the newsgroup that you suggested.

Please supply the answer since I cannot access any newsgroups (or at least
non-Microsoft newsgroups).

The link I gave you is a Forum, not a newsgroup - you can access it with any
browser....
You can also set up your news reader to use the news server news.mozilla.org

That's becoming more common for liabilty issues (which often really means
they don't want to be caught carrying child porn). Many ISPs will claim
that it's because newsgroups have been superceded by blogs or forums like
the one a link was given for.
Don't ask me how I can access this newsgroup if my ISP does not offer

You can access it because this news server is maintained by Microsoft, not
your ISP.

There is nothing technically preventing you from connecting to other news
servers. You just need to know where they are and perhaps have logins.
Therefore, I cannot access the newsgroup that you suggested.

Sure you can, not least because that link doesn't go to a newsgroup.

For non-binary newsgroups, just use either Google Groups or find any of many
free news servers - though with those you often can't post. If you need
news servers, subscribe to one, like Supernews, Giganews, etc. Costs are
moderate.

But in any case, this link doesn't lead to a news server. It's a website
laid out as a forum.

Again, you can. You just have to set up connection to the server. But
since the link doesn't go to a newsgroup server, it's kind of a moot point.

Several points here:

1. Gordon cited a web-based forum, not a newsgroup.

2. You get to a newsgroup by pointing your newsreader to a news server that
is either free, or that you have paid for (not necessarily provided by your
ISP).

3. Although one source of free newsgroups is what your ISP may provide you,
it is *not* the only one. The newsgroup that this thread is in is the free
Microsoft server, msnews.microsoft.com. Other vendors--Corel, for
example--provide news servers to support their particular products.

4. Besides the special-purpose vendor-provided support news servers like
msnews.microsoft.com, there are many other general-purpose news servers
available. Some are free. Others are by paid subscription. See
http://www.google.com/search?q=news+server
