Blurry video when dragged to Timeline - Codec problem or?

First I saved some files of a building model from Cinema 4D-10 to .avi files.
1280 x 1024 at 72 Dpi. I saved them big to play back in a larger view on my
PC screen for a demonstration. Imported the clips into Movie Maker 2. They
are clear in the collections area and clean if I don't play a moving preview
of the clip. They play cleanly in Windows Media Player as individual clips.
As soon as a clip gets into the Timeline and I play it, it gets all blurry.
When I put the clips together and save it as a movie, it stays all blurry.
Next I tried to save my files from C4D as tiffs. Same size and resolution.
Took the tiffs to Movie Maker and put them together. Again in collections
they preview clear if you click on them individually. In the Timeline -
blurry again. This happens anytime I set the preview in motion. Tiffs don't
clear up unless I click on them again in collections. I tried the same thing
in Adobe Premiere Elements and the same thing happened. Clear files become
blurry. I think I'm missing some CODEC or something..? I don't really know
much about this as I'm brand new to working with video. If it is a missing
CODEC, how do I find out which one is missing and where do I get it? Thanks.

You really make it hard to read
when you do not use paragraphs.

Anyway...the viewer in Movie Maker
reduces the resolution of the clips
played from the timeline....especially
if you view them full screen. The clips
are not affected...it's only for viewing
purposes.

As for saving in a higher resolution...
