Bluetooth Print_FAX problem

W

What Now

Hey folks,

Have a Canon MX850 all-in-one with the proprietary BT adapter so I can
send print jobs wirelessly from my laptop. In the laptop (Dell Vostro
1000 w/ XP SP2) I have an Aluratek BT adapter. I can send print jobs
beautifully, but the print_fax driver isn't working.

I created a document in Word, chose Print --> the Canon MX850 series
FAX --> entered the name and number in the address book --> hit Send.

The Canon never even dials and after a couple minutes I get an error
message that the fax could not be transmitted with a small list of
possibilities as to the error, none of which are the problem. (e.g.
check to see if the fax line was busy, if the fax machine is connected
properly to the phone line, etc.) It sends find if I manually send a
fax at the Canon itself, and it sends fine from my desktop using Word
and the print_FAX option. The only diff between the desktop and laptop
is that the former is not using bluetooth to communicate with the
Canon, but is hard wired to it.

So what's the deal with Bluetooth and the print_FAX option?

Anyone?

PS I have XPs FAX services installed on both the laptop and desktop.

XP Fax is not involved in this at all; it has no knowledge of, and cannot
work with a printer based Fax device, it only knows how to use a standard
analog fax modem. What you have is a Cannon produced driver for a piece of
Cannon hardware. This is something Cannon will have to deal with, as the
problem is between the Cannon driver and the Aluratec Bluetooth stack.
