Has anyone found a USB to Bluetooth dongle that works with VISTA Ultimate?

I have not had any luck and need to find a Bluetooth solution for the HP
DV9260sr laptop.

Any hints are appreciated.

There are lots of BT adapters that works on Ultimate. You need to find one
that is using either a Toshiba stack or a Broadcom/Widcomm stack. I am
using
a BT2.0 USB from Level1 (Toshiba stack) on my Ultimate x64 and it works
fine. I have also tried a belkin BT2.0 adapter (Broadcom). I personally
think that Toshiba is more stable nowadays with their BT stack
implementations. And Most of the laptop built-ins that I see are using
Toshiba stack based internal bluetooth solutions as well.

thanks for your response. I looked up everything I could find on both the
Toshiba and Belkin.
But I could find no reference to Vista with these products. XT seems to be
the last OS supported.
Can you give me the exact model number of the adapter you use successfully
with the VISTA operating system please.
There certainly isn't much of a knowledge base out there for VISTA related
drivers and PC accessories that work with this OS.

www.BlueSoleil.com---Be the best Bluetooth software

This is the one i use.

Karl,

I just installed the bluetooth software for Belkin's class 1 dongle,
tonight. I went to www.belkin.com - support and downloaded the latest
drivers for F8TO12 dongle. It is a class 1 USB radio that works great
(100M). The drivers are a little difficult to install, I had to 'unzip' them
and execute 'Inst' in the win32 sub-directory but they went in fine for Vista
64. I contacted Belkin before I started and they said that there were no
issue (but I found they wouldn't install directly from the menu?!??).

I am able to pair with all of my bluetooth devices in Vista 64 (I think that
is SUCCESS!!!).

Regards

It completely depends on the hardware you plan to use with it. If you don’t
have a profile for your device then it simply will not work.

You can download and use the Broadcom driver/stack for that dongle and gain
even more success. I couldn't get my Motorola headset to work with it until
I installed the Broadcom stuff.

My ASUS Bluetooth drops out when playing music to my plantronics headset.
I have tried all the ASUS Vista drivers but no good so cant recommend ASUS
bluetooth WL-BTD201M. I think it runs out of stack all the time.

I have a Blackberry 8300, T61 Vista with integrated Bluetooth. I can get the
taskbar bluetooth icon to pair with the Blackberry. However, i cannnot get
the RIM Desktop software to pair with the Blackberry. The 8300 is a
standaone - no BES is involved. All works fine over USB.

The only driver/devices I see for my Thinkpad Bluetooth is the Thinkpad
Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate (from Broadcom). I do not see any MS Vista
Bluetooth driver loaded. Could this be source of my problems?

thanks,

Drew
