Bluetooth and Windows XP Service Pack 2

Hi! I have a Compaq Presario X1010CA notebook with windows XP. It had
bluetooth installed and I used to use it to connect to my friend's notebook
and share files. It was a breeze. I hadn't used it for some time but now
wanted to download some pictures from my new Nokia phone when I discovered
that I have lost Bluetooth. Maybe it happened due to Service Pack 2, which I
have installed since I last used bluetooth, but now I'm in a fix.

My notebook does not recognise my new phone.

There is no "Bluetooth Devices" in my Control Panel.

There is no "Bluetooth Support" in the list when I run services.msc.

Nothing happens when I run "bthprops.cpl".

Heeeeelp!!

I had the same problem it has to do with drivers by default MS wants to load
the MS default drivers with my bluetooth device i had to force it to use the
drivers that came with the device and it worked.

rt click on my computer / click on properties / click on device manager / rt
click on ms bluetooth device goto properties / click on driver / click on
update / click on install from a list or specific location ( Advanced ) then
click on next / then select don't search , I will choose the driver to
install / then click on next and then select have disk ( Make sure the driver
disk from the manufacture is in the drive / then select browse and select
where the driver is at and then next and next to finish

Thanks a lot, you are very helpful, but I swear I used to use bletooth to
share files with my friend's HP notebook. I HAVE used it!! I can't imagine

Mike, I think you are right and my notebook doesnt have bluetooth. Maybe I
used infrared with my friend's computer and thought it was bluetooth!

Thanks for your help.
