Blue screened after computer boots

I have a very strange question. After purchasing some bad memory sticks it seems it corrupted my OS. Now I can not log onto Windows XP. The memory sticks have been taken care of but I am stuck with no computer. What happens is my computer will boot but right when I get to the login screen to log onto the OS I get blue screened and my computer reboots. I never get WinXP up. My computer is an older computer and was preloaded with XP professional and I have no installation disks to fix my problem. The local retailer advised me that it was an OS problem and if I purchased a full version of the program it would fix my problem. I was also told I would be able to purchase a license and obtain a copy of XP (cheaper than buying the program) for my computer but would that fix my problem? And if so, would I be able to get a discount on the price if I am a student attending a vocational institute? Can anyone please help me? I have no computer and I need my computer for studies and work. Thank you.

Meeca,
Is the " Retailer " you mention , the same person who sold you the bad
memory sticks ? If so, run do not hesitate and seek advice from another
source. Any other source !
There seems to be a good deal of confusion going on about what you have on
your system . Possibly you misunderstood what you were told. At any rate ,
you need advice from someone other than a Retailer. And by the way, you can
probably purchase XP from your school and get a students discount, if that
is really what you need.
Not sure if you can get XP Pro at a student discount .
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but does she need to purchase a license in
order to purchase XP ? I do not think so. Does that guy
also sell ocean front property in Arizona ?
If I were going to give you any advice, it would be to look for a competent
computer repair person and get them to have a look at your computer. But be
prepared to spend big , they don't give student discounts. Good luck.
