Hi there,
When playing Halo after a while the Pc crashes and i get
the dreaded Blue screen. I'm running XP home, with a
Radeon 9200 graphics card, AMD Athlon(tm)XP 2600+,MMx 3d
Now, ~2.1GHz Processer, 1024MB Ram.
The message I get on the "blue screen" is:-
STOP: 0X00000050 (0XE17E5BD0, 0X00000001, 0XBFA4F914,
0X00000001)
ati3d2ag.dll- address BFa4f914 base at BFA17000,
DATESTAMP 3F7a342b

Hope this all helps somehow.
Thanks
Phil

OK well that pinpoints it to your video driver (art3d2ag.dll). Do you know
what version drivers you're running, 3.9 are the latest and are available
from www.ati.com. Downloading and installing these if you're using older
ones will most likely solve the issue.

Let us know how you get on!

Thanks for that Paul, but I've done that and I'm still
getting the same problem. I've been on the Halo website
and there seems to be quite a few guy's with the same
thing happening. Someone said to go back to the 3.0 but
that one is not compatable with my graphics card. It's
all soooo frusterating!! Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried lowering the AGP speed and disabling fast-writes in the BIOS
or drivers?

Hi Phil
Just wondering have you installed any drivers specifically for your
motherboards chipset? Especially on VIA based motherboards you can have
problems running things such as games without them installed.

0x50 Stop errors (Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area) can happen because the
requested data was not in memory/An invalid system memory address was
referenced. This can either be because of defective hardware (memory, flawed
card, overheating), driver or something such as an incompatible AntiVirus
scanner.

If you want to test the ram in your system

Hi Mark
What I can't understand is, this only happens when
playing Halo! I've got SOF MOHAA & double Helix, I have
no problem with these games. I was on the Halo Website
and there are quite a few guys on there with the exact
same problem as me! So I'm just putting it all down to
Halo, maybe you guys at M/S could get together and bring
out a "hotfix" for it.
Thanks for your time mark.

You could run SoF 1 and 2 and MoHAA simultaneously and probably still not
match the usage Halo puts on a system.

Halo is a completely different technology to the old Unreal tech of SoF and
the Quake 3 tech of SoF 2 and MoHAA, it does things in a totally different
way. Have you got any other heavy DX9 games?

The trouble with fixing Halo, is the problem most likely doesn't lie with
Halo.

Have you tried any older video / chipset drivers, I do remember a few people
saying back along that the newer VIA chipset drivers were less stable,
although personally I haven't noticed that.
