For the last two years i've been using Sonic DLA to burn files to disc. Just
recently after i have finished burning i then eject the disc and the blue
screen of death appears.

Has anyone got any idea why this is happening?

What does the BSOD say? We need the Stop Error. Or you can start by
looking it up at the link below and then posting back with the missing
information if you don't understand what you find at the link.

It says IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

and under technical information is has

STOP: 0X0000000A (0X00000000, 0X0000001C, 0X00000001, 0X804FAEE4)

Background information:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms793589.aspx

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Please post a copy of the full Error Report from Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Ok i will update the drivers and run the diagnostics tool, i hope that works.

Thank you for your help.

Gary.

I thought i would give you an update as it might help other people in the
future. I updated everything but i still got the BSOD when i ejected a disc,
so i restored my computer to the origional factory settings of 2 1/2 years
ago. Everything worked fine and i slowly started adding the many programs i
needed over the next couple of days. Last night i added a few programs
including Spyware Doctor and after burning to disc the BSOD was back. Rather
than uninstalling Spyware Doctor i found there is an option to tick a box
that says 'Enable kernel compatability mode' to help stop conflicts. Since i
have done this everything has worked fine (fingers crossed), hopefully that
is the end of the matter even though i don't know what SD was conflicting
with or why it would affect ejecting a disc.

where did you see the option "Enable Kernel compatability mode'. I have the
same issue but with an Iomega Super-DVD

Open Spyware Doctor and click on settings tab on the left hand side. Near the
bottom of the screen you will see the Enable kernel compatability mode, tick
the box and then restart your computer.

Good luck,
Gaz.
