Blue "$NtUninstallKB......$" folders at C:\Windows?

Richard

Hi All. While exploring folders at C:\, upon opening the Windows folder,
there were 34 folders in front of all other files - one folder named (in
black) "$hf_mig$" and 33 named (in blue) "$ntUninstallKB(six numbers)$". Just
after these 34 folders begins the alphabetical listing of all other files and
folders in Windows...the ones I'm used to seeing. Can anyone explain the
meaning of these folders whose names begin and end with "$". Thanks.

They are the windows update uninstall files. You can delete them if you
don't ever want to uninstall those updates.

the $hf_mig$ folder is there for future upgrades to reference, so that
they won't unwittingly undermine an already installed hotfix by mistakenly
installing an older-or-incompatable version of a file.

you should not delete $hf_mig$.
