blue files are compressed. you can uncompress them by right clicking on
them, select properties, click the advanced button, then uncheck the
compress contents box.
PS: The files that XP compresses by default are the backup files for
hotfixes and the dllcache folder. These are files that you normally want to
keep around but since they aren't working copies, compressing them takes up
less disk space and it doesn't hurt performance.
Not sure why/how you want to get rid of this. You can use Folder
Options>View to make these things display in a different color (including
the default black). Or you can decompress the files (right click on
properties of the containing folder and uncheck the box next to compress).
By design, WinXP compresses files that do not get used frequently,
and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays those files
in blue.
If you wish to change this behavior, in Windows Explorer, click
Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced settings: Show encrypted or
compressed NTFS files in color.
