BLServices Runtime Error

I have a new HP lap top running Vista Home Premium. In the task bar, I keep
getting the message - Interactive Services Dialog. When I pull up the
message it says a program can't display a message on your desktop. It goes
on to say there is a runtime error on the program:
c:/windows/SMINST/BLServices.exe.

I looked on the Microsoft website for runtime errors and ran the virus
checker as recommended. This didn't solve the problem. I then went to the
program using Windows explorer and checked the box to run the program in
Vista SP2. This did nothing.

Can any one tell me how to get rid of this error and the error message?

The issue is covered extensively in this thread:

http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/171339-interactive-services-dialog-detection-2.html

It's a multi-page thread so make sure you read all of it. It's apparently
something that comes preinstalled on HP computers and/or after installing
HP printer software. The thread covers a lot of ground so I'm not going to
summarize it - just read it.
