Blog creation?

What do people recommend for freeware to create a pretty basic blog for
web pages? Something similar to the layout of these sites:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/
http://medienkritik.typepad.com/
http://no-pasaran.blogspot.com/
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/

Thanks!

Curt,

Depends on how much control you want over content and layout. If you just
want to pick a template and start writing, half the world uses Blogger.com.
I personally like the vibe over at www.squarespace.co, better than blogger.
Or, if your knowledge extends itself to knowing how to set up a blogging
system on your own website, try Moveabletype (or Typepad - like your
example above), WordPress (excellent) or www.b2evolution.org (which I am
experimenting with currently and migrating too).

Always check out the support community first - especially forums, so you
can be assured there are folks out there that can help you if the
documentation doesn't cut it.

Blog on!

Thanks for mentioning a few free programs, but this service is not free,
so OT in this newsgroup.

I don't know how far discussion of free webservice is allowed in this
newsgroup. Freeware is normally downloadable, isn't it?

Free online blogservice is offered by:
http://www.blogger.com
http://www.blogsome.com
http://www.livejournal.com
http://space.msn.com
http://www.blogeasy.com
http://www.blog-city.com
http://www.bloglines.com
http://del.icio.us/

I'm using blogger ( http://jessini.blogspot.com/ - german blog about
nothing) and have a test blog at blogsome. Both work fine, but I don't
need any special features, so I don't know wether it suites the needs of
everybody.
Bloglines does not allow clickable links. That's why eoff moved to
blogger ( http://eoff.blogspot.com/ - blog about free software and
webservice ).
Del.icio.us is not a full featured blog service. It's just a link blog.
( http://del.icio.us/735/freeware - my online links tagged 'freeware' )

Well, has somebody tried the other blog services? Or are there more
providers? Please share your experience!

Have a nice day
Jes

I've been using LiveJournal. Its main strength is that it's set up to make
communication among Livejournalers easy.

There are other sites using the same software, including DeadJournal.

My bad. I feel a bit unclean knowing I slipped up with this. I was always
under the impression this site had a very *basic* blog setup that was
free...under further investigation it is a 30 day trial. I recind my
previous mentioning of this product.

g'day,
Sam
