I’m trying to send out a confidential e-mail for my Microsoft Outlook. How can I set it up so that the e-mail cannot be copied or forwarded on to anyone else?

Your first mistake is thinking that aything sent by Email can be made
confidential or that it is a good medium for sending confidential
information.

That said, Outlook 2003 purportedly supports this.

That is a very interesting question. I agree that is
would be difficult. We are talking about an issue of
trust? Because if you trust the person you are sending
the email to you can use encription (I don't know
anything about it, but if you can encript an email and
the reader has the key to open and read it, then perhaps
the encriptions would keep anyone but that person from
reading it.) The problem would be how would you let them
know about decription?

One idea is attaching a macro (a macro is a text like
program you can create in word, we would need a macro
maven here.) to the email that either prevents forwarding
or copying, or that deletes the message as soon as it is
closed or as soon as an attempt to forward is made.

It is an interesting problem. I don't think anything is
impossible. Perhaps you should send the email to me and
I will read it and try to see what I can do ;).

Seriously, though, don't give up. If you do not get an
answer here, try a search on Google for another newgroup
that might me more lively. (Oh, I don't mean to put this
one down, but each group has it's special strengths.)

This is true, but doesn't address the issue of disallowing forwarding.

That's what public keys are for. You tell everyone and their brother what
your public key is. You encrypt with your private key and the recipient
uses your public key to decrypt. If you want the recipient to be the only
one to be able to decrypt, first encrypt it with their public key and then
with your private key. They're they only ones who can decrypt it, using
their private key.
