bloating frontend

I am posting here mainly because I can't figure out what
category this question would be.
I have an Access 2002 app frontend with a SQL 2k backend
and had noted that the frontend continues to grow even
after compacting. I tried opening a new empty .mdb and
then importing all the objects from the old app, including
menus and toolbars. My app went from 25 megs to 7 megs.

1) Is there any downside to doing this?
2) What should I look for in the app that may be causing
the bloat?

Thanks in advance.

Josh,
I've never heard what it is "exactly" that causes front end bloating.
It's probably "overhead" that Access doesn't clean up properly when closing.
(users/network traffic control/etc...)
Instead of "re-importng" all your objects as you did, have you tried
Tools/Compacting? That should produce the same results... and that's the
main reason that Compacting is there.

I compact nearly daily because I am constantly editing the
frontend. So the dramatic change was a compacted DB vs a
new DB with everything imported!
Interesting!
