Blinking Disk Icon next to pointer

I have a blinking "disk icon" next to my pointer, What is
it and how do I get rid of it?

Means it's trying to read a CD that is in the drive.

On my machine it usually indicates a CD is in the drive,

Go to the Control panel and select Mouse,
Select a new pointer, different from what you have now.
