Blinking Cursor-XP

i am getting a blinking cursor on several of my xp pro
desktops. I do a fixmbr and it works, however, I get the
blinking cursor on another reboot. I then do a checkdisk
and it fixes the corrupted files, but the blinking cursor
is back. any ideas?? maybe a virus?

Without knowing anything else, I would strongly suspect one of two things:
Virus or failing harddrive. Beyond that, who knows.
