Blinking Cursor on Shutdown

I'm using W2k Server SP4 and when restarting or shutting down the server hangs o
a black blank screen with the cursor flashing top left, I then have to manually power down

I've noticed that the APC UPS Manager service does not move from Status "Starting" wheras the others ar
on Started, this may not be connected ?

I've scanned the server for virus's both at normal and DOS level and all check out ok

This also happens when the servers is booted in Safe Mode

I'd appreciate any advise with this, Thanks..

I've seen this happen as a result of third party services on certain
computer configurations, i.e.:


Windows 2000 SP* on a Compaq DeskproEN with Netsoft's Shared Folders
service.

Try manually stopping any third party services right before your next
shutdown to see if it changes anything. If it does, try to narrow down the
service that is causing it and contact the provider to see if they have any
info or fixes about this.
