Blaster Worm

For those wondering, so i do not answer each question seperately Blaster
worm did...
1. Not cause a blackout
2. Finish off its target
3. Last longer than a week
4. Cause any real problem to microsoft

It was caught on NT, 2000, XP and 2003 if you wee online on the evening of
the 14th. It then connected to a specific microsoft website(which it got
wrong) in order to shut it down.

To stop it if you have the above systems go to
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp and

1. Start your firewall
2. Patch windows
3. Get rid of it

My mistake, I must have missed all the posts personally requesting
help from you that meant you needed to post your advice in such a
patronising tone.

Nicky.. ignore him... blatant troll.. nothing more, nothing less.

After replying to someone "praising" the author for MSB (LOL!?) about
how lame (IMO) it is pretty much being a set of wrappers around already
public exploit code, Mr Troll here replies:
At least someone had the guts to let a virus loose. Plus you wouldn't
be able to find and exploit loke RPC if you tried. Try showing a little
appreciation for those of us working hard to shut down Microsoft.
I think that said it pretty much all =)

For those wondering, so i do not answer each question seperately Blaster

1. Not cause a blackout A moot point ;o)
2. Finish off its target Was it meant to ?
3. Last longer than a week
Vincent Weafer, senior director of security response for Symantec
has said they expect new infections to continue for as long as two
years.
4. Cause any real problem to microsoft How the hell do you know ?
It was caught on NT, 2000, XP and 2003 if you wee online on the evening of
the 14th. It was detected on the 12th.
It then connected to a specific microsoft website(which it got
wrong) in order to shut it down. Gibberish.

To stop it if you have the above systems go to
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp and

It was detected on the 12th.

wrong with its program

Thanks; but I am not old, you are only as old as you allow your self to feel
and in that case I will be youthful for ever. Shoot all of my relatives
that are as much as 5 years younger then I have far more gray hair; but I
think it may be because of what my wife says and that is because of my
having blond hair the gray looks like highlights instead of gray and my
eyebrows have been black every since I shaved them off when I was 5 and are
only now look like they are returning to their natural blond color; but the
wife says it is just the gray causing the black to loose it's color <s>

You shaved off your eyebrows at 5??? Were they already caterpillars
at that young age?

Yeah, it was short lived compared to the damage it was capable of doing.
More of a minor nuisance than anything else.
