Blaster Worm - Computer is dead

Hi,

I installed the patch last night from the MS website.
Then, I also deleted the msblast.exe file from Registry
Editor.

Then, my computer started freezing up. I shut-down and
now when I start up my computer, a blue screen appears
telling me that Windows is not functioning properly and to
restart in Safe Mode. Each time I do that, it will not
allow me any further. I cannot get into the computer at
all.

I don't mind re-installing Windows and all my software,
but I'd like to be able to at least save some files from
the hard drive.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated,
Lara

Lara,
I can't help you solve the OS problem but I have what
might be an obvious answer for you. The drive is probably
still intact so remove it from your computer and "Slave"
it to another computer (preferably with a CDRW) with
sufficient storage capacity. When the host computer is
rebooted it should assign your drive a drive letter. You
should then be able to access and move your data files to
the Host computer

I hope this helps.

Jeff

Try doing a 'Repair Install' from the XP CD. It sure would be worth a
try.

Hi,

Thank you both Jack and Jeff. I'll try these suggestions!

Thanks so much,
Lara
